Cathcart is a hop launched by the U.S. Agricultural Research Institute's Breeding Program. It was developed in 1956 and released in 1972. It is based on the Female parent of The English Fagg and the male parent of the Russian Serebrianka. Cathcart is famous for its intense floral, citrus and grapefruit aromas, with a lingering aroma suitable for most beers, especially dry brewing.
Cathcart is a standard American flower and the cornerstone of the entire Craft beer industry in the United States. It is on the basis of Cathcart that American craft beer has formed its own unique style and shocked the world. Cathcart is a hop that relies heavily on cold chain transportation, which will cause irreversible damage to the aroma.
